Parenting Classes

PARENT  & TEACHER EDUCATION CLASSES - AUGUST 2015

Our parent education curriculum includes evening classes, as well as lunch and learn classes. We are available to provide  private classes/workshops on a contract basis for your group or organization! Please contact us to find out more about this option. We hope to help your family grow through parental participation in a class.

 

Our August curriculum offers one hour, one topic classes to help jump start a successful school year. Classes are offered in the evening or daytime as listed. 

TRANSITION TIME:  Helping Autistic Students Go Back to School 

This class will give parents tips and resources for a smooth transition back to school. Parents will learn strategies to help their child interact with their calssmates and teachers as well as to communicate with teachers about accomodations and learning needs that students with autisim need. 

Tuesday, August 4: 6:30-7:30pm    or  Friday, August 7: 12:00 - 1:00 pm 

 

SUPPORTING STUDENTS WITH DYSLEXIA

This class will focus on how to help your dyslexic student get organized and ready for the school year. Parents will get tips on how to talk with the teacher about accomodations or learning needs that students with dyslexia need.

ACTIVE PARENTING FOR SCHOOL SUCCESS

Learn the tools and skills to support your child's success in school. Topics covered include parental involvement, working with your child's teachers, structuring family and homework time, expectations, and how to help your child use media safely and effectively.

HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR IEP

The testing has been completed, now what exactly do the results mean? How can you use the information for the reports to imporve outcomes for students? What do you target first? This calss hleps navigate the IEP process, as well as how to work with teachers to ensure the plan works for the student.

LOVE AND LOGIC FOR TEACHERS

Imagine a classroom with less stress, fewer discipline problems and kids who are willing to learn in your class. It can happen!  Join Instructor Wendy Wood to learn how to spend less time on discipline and student disruptions, guide students to solve their own problems, set and enforce limits without ever raising yoru voice, and end each day with mroe energy leftover for yourself and your family. 

Class will meet 6 consecutive weeks.

Course fees are as follows, unless otherwise noted:

1 week course  - $10 per person 

3 week course - $30.00/person or $40.00/couple

4 week course - $40.00/person or $50.00/couple

6 week course - $60.00/person or $70.00/couple
